PEU 4th Triennial Congress Programme Announced
The Professional Educators’ Union (PEU) is pleased to share the full programme for its 4th Triennial Congress, taking place from 1 – 3 October 2025 at the Kopanong Hotel Conference Centre, Benoni, Johannesburg.
This Congress is intended for PEU leadership and elected delegates only. To keep our wider membership connected and engaged on open sessions of the congress, key sessions will be livestreamed and accessible on YouTube and Facebook. The Congress will provide a vital platform for representation, dialogue, solidarity and decision-making. Delegates and leaders will deliberate on key issues shaping the union and education sector.
Day 1 – Wednesday, 1 October 2025
- Devotional prelude
- Presidential Address
- Messages of support from national and international organisations, including DBE, SACE, ETDPSETA, ELRC, PSCBC and Education International (video)
- Keynote Address by Dr. Musibudi Mangena
- Commission sessions and procedural arrangements
Livestream: Day 1 will be fully livestreamed, including the Presidential Address, messages of support and keynote address.
Day 2 – Thursday, 2 October 2025
- Official opening by Minister of Basic Education, Hon. Nosiviwe Gwarube
Livestream: The key moment for livestreaming will be the Minister’s opening remarks.
Day 3 – Friday, 3 October 2025
- Adoption of Congress Resolutions and constitutional amendments
- Elections of new leadership
- Acceptance speech by the incoming President of the PEU
Livestream: Announcement of new leadership and acceptance speech will be livestreamed.
This Congress represents a pivotal milestone for PEU in strengthening unity, advancing its mandate and shaping the direction of the union.
